There are a few standard dental services that you should be aware of. These include teeth whitening, root canals, dental fillings, and dentures. It would help if you asked for a consultation before deciding on dental care.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a popular service that can improve the color of your teeth and make you feel more confident. The process involves applying a bleaching agent directly to the teeth or using a special rubber tray. You’ll enjoy a brighter smile regardless of how you get your teeth whitened.

On a dry, clean surface, whitening products perform at their best. As a result, the teeth will probably be completely scrubbed by the Dentist Littleton, CO, before teeth whitening. Then, a gauze pad will be placed in your mouth to dry your teeth. This method is recommended if you want to maintain a bright, white smile for a long time. It would help if you also visited your dentist for a biannual cleaning.

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are a typical dental service that can help keep your teeth healthy. The process involves utilizing a drill to remove diseased tooth tissue, which can be quick and painless. Next, the tooth and cavity may be numbed using a local anesthetic. After that, the dentist cleans the cavity and prepares it for filling. Once the filling is hardened, the dentist polishes it and checks the bite.

There are different types of fillings, including composite material and gold. Your dentist will determine which type is best for your teeth based on your budget and the condition of your teeth.

Dentures

Dentures are common dental services and help replace missing teeth. They fit the patient’s mouth cavity and look natural. The dentist molds the patient’s gums and mouth to determine the right shape and size of the dentures. Dentures are made in a dental lab, but some dentists can create dentures in-house.

While dentures cannot replace natural teeth, they can be a great way to eat the food you love. They may feel strange or awkward at first, but your mouth adjusts to the new dentures over time. Eventually, your muscles and suction will help hold the dentures in place.

Root Canal Treatment

If you’ve ever received root canal treatment, you probably know how painful the procedure can be. While all dentists are trained to perform this procedure, some will refer more complex cases to an endodontist specializing in this field. You should always ask your dentist if they can refer you to an endodontist if you are in doubt.

While root canal treatment is often painful, the discomfort is usually temporary and subsides within a few hours. The process also improves the health of the tooth. Once the procedure is complete, your dentist may place a crown over the tooth to cover it and protect it from further decay or discoloration. You may experience mild discomfort after a root canal, but this is normal and can be treated with over-the-counter pain relievers. If the discomfort persists, a doctor can prescribe more vital pain medication. To ensure that your tooth doesn’t suffer from further decay, your dentist will recommend proper oral hygiene.

Scaling and Root Planing

The purpose of scaling and root planing is to remove plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth. This process also smooths out the roots of your teeth. This helps minimize the chance of reinfection by preventing bacteria and biofilm from adhering to the root surface.

These procedures are standard in patients with periodontal disease. Scaling removes plaque below the gum line, while root planing smooths out the roots to allow the gums to attach back to the teeth. This treatment is essential for people who have periodontal disease because this condition can result in a separation between the gums and teeth.
