Can You Get an STD From a Hand Job?

It’s highly unlikely to contract a sexually transmitted infection from a hand job. STIs are usually given through sexual contact involving the mixing of bodily fluids such as semen, vaginal fluids, blood, or skin-to-skin contact in genital areas.

However, if there are open sores, cuts, or lesions on the hand or genital area, there could potentially be a risk of transmission of certain STIs.

Types of STDs

Chlamydia and gonorrhea are bacterial infections that typically affect the genital area, rectum, and throat. They are primarily given through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. They can also be spread through sharing sex toys.

While it’s unlikely to contract chlamydia or gonorrhea from a hand job alone, there is a potential risk if infected genital fluids come into contact with any cuts or abrasions on the hand or genital area during the activity. It’s important to note that these infections can also be transmitted through unprotected oral or anal sex.

Herpes simplex virus can cause genital herpes. Sexually transmitted infection is characterized by painful sores or blisters on the genitals or mouth. HSV can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, including during sex.

While the risk of contracting herpes from a hand job alone is low, it is possible if there are active lesions or sores present on the hand or genital area.

Herpes can be spread around even when there are no visible symptoms present, making it important to keep up safe sex practices and get tested regularly.

HPV is a viral infection that can result in genital warts and some types of cancers, including cervical, anal, and throat cancers.

HPV is extremely contagious and can be spread through skin-to-skin contact, including during sexual activities such as genital touching, oral sex, or vaginal and anal intercourse.

STD Prevention

Prevention is super important in reducing the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections. While some activities pose a higher risk than others, practicing safe sex and good hygiene habits can significantly decrease the chances of transmission.

Proper communication with sexual partners about STI status, using things like condoms or dental dams, and getting regularly tested for STIs are essential steps in preventing the spread of infections.

STD Testing

Regular STD testing is incredibly important for maintaining sexual health and preventing STI spread. Testing allows individuals to be aware of their STI status, reducing the risk of any other problems and further transmission.

It’s recommended that sexually active individuals undergo routine testing, especially if they have multiple partners or engage in unprotected sex. Make sure you look into STD testing in Nashville if you’re concerned,
