Genghis Khan
He was given the name Temujin and was born between 1155 and 1167. He was the eldest child of Hoelun of the Olkhonud clan and Yesugei, a Mongol chieftain of the Borjigin clan. When he was eight years old, his father passed away, and his family in the Mongol steppe was left behind by their clan.
Due to his extensive land holdings and lack of a strong financial background, he is regarded as the wealthiest individual in history. He is, nonetheless, among the greatest military leaders ever. He was in charge of the greatest contiguous empire in history since he was able to extend his influence from China to Europe. Scholars assert that despite his immense power, he never accumulated wealth in one place. The secret to his influence was simply his generosity.
Unlike many pre-modern armies, the author of Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World says, Mongol warriors were forbidden from seizing personal booty. Each thing they captured was listed by government clerks once they had taken a territory, and then it was given to the troops and their families. He still got a piece of the loot, but it wasn’t much of a fortune. The author writes, “He built no palace for himself or his family, no temple, no tomb, not even a house.” He lived and passed away in a wool ger (yurt). He was buried after being covered in felt like any other dead person, the man continued. August 25, 1227, saw the passing of Genghis Khan.
Bill Gates
He was given the name William Henry Gates on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington, and went on to become a multibillionaire investor. He is well-known for partnering with his childhood friend Paul Allen to start Microsoft. He rose through the ranks of Microsoft to become its chairman, president, chief software architect, and CEO while serving as its largest individual shareholder up until May 2014. He played a significant role in the microcomputer revolution of the 1970s and 1980s as an entrepreneur.
With $78.9 billion in wealth, he is regarded as the richest individual in history.
Alan Rufus (a.k.a. Alan the Red)
He lived in England from 1040 until 1093, and it is known that he was William the Conqueror’s nephew. He participated in the Norman conquest alongside his uncle. According to the writers of The Richest of the Rich, he passed away with £11,000, or around $194 billion in 2014 USD.

At the age of 20, he entered into his first of many business partnerships, focusing on oil refining. He established the Standard Oil Company in 1870 and served as its president and major shareholder until 1897. Additionally, he had control over 90% of the oil produced in America.
According to a 1918 federal income tax return and estimates of his total wealth, he was estimated to be worth nearly $1.5 billion in his New York Times obituary. This would be $341 billion in value.

In the 18 years before his death, he donated over 90% of his wealth to foundations, charities, and educational institutions.
Prior to all of that, he was born in Dunfermline, Scotland, and moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with his parents when he was 12 years old in 1848. He first worked as a telegrapher before making investments in oil derricks, railroads, sleeping trains, and bridges by the 1860s.
He sold U.S Steel, his business, to J.P Morgan in 1901 for $480 million, which translates to $372 billion today.
