Seven Reasons Why Modular Cleanrooms are a Good Option for Healthcare Centers

Healthcare centers are always looking for ways to improve the cleanliness of their facilities. The last thing that a healthcare center wants is an infectious disease outbreak because they failed to provide adequate protection to their patients. A recent report from the CDC shows about 27,635 monkeypox outbreak cases in the US alone by October 2022, along with four deaths.

It means hospitals and other healthcare facilities have had to invest in new technology that helps keep their environments as free from contamination as possible. One of the most effective methods of keeping germs at bay is modular cleanrooms. But what exactly are they? And why do they work so well?

This blog post explores seven reasons why modular cleanrooms are a good option for healthcare centers. Let’s take a look.

Modular Cleanrooms

Building modular cleanrooms is a smart alternative for healthcare centers across the country. The demand for modular cleanrooms is increasing in the healthcare industry. The market value of cleanroom technology was USD 4 billion by the end of 2020 and is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 5.4% between 2021-2028.

This rise in demand is because modular cleanrooms are less expensive and quicker to construct than stick-built cleanrooms. Also, they are more flexible, expandable, and relocatable, and often compliant with regulatory requirements.

Modular cleanrooms usually require less labor to construct than stick-built cleanrooms, making them more cost-effective. It is due, in part, to their modular construction, which allows you to order exactly what you need when you need it.

The combined benefits of modular construction mean that you can avoid having wasted space in your facility by ordering only what you need now and holding onto options for expansion later when your business needs to change.

Containment and Compliance

Regarding containment and compliance, modular cleanrooms are a good option for healthcare centers. They are built to contain particles and meet standards. They’re easier to maintain, so the risk of contamination is minimized. And if your needs change or you move locations, modular cleanrooms can be moved easily because they’re built on wheels and not bolted into concrete.

The International Standard Organization has classified different levels of cleanrooms, ranging from ISO Class 1 to ISO Class 9. The lower the class number, the better the cleanroom environment. That means Class 1 is the cleanest category. Hence the ISO Class 1 cleanroom can be regarded as the best particle containment cleanroom, which meets almost all medical compliances.

Hydrostatic Testing

Hydrostatic testing is a critical part of the cleanroom design process. Hydrostatic testing ensures that the cleanroom is constructed to meet the manufacturer’s specifications, and it can be performed by either a third party or an independent testing agency.

The reason is simple: hydrostatic testing technicians do not work for the same company as their subcontractors or suppliers; they have no financial interest in the project’s outcome. In addition, it ensures that test results are objective and unbiased, making them much more reliable than if they had been conducted by someone who may have something to gain from them being favorable.

To ensure that your healthcare facility has a safe environment for patients, employees, and visitors alike, you should make sure your building is properly tested before it opens its doors for use.

Reduced Construction Time

Modular cleanrooms are constructed in a factory, so you don’t need to wait for the site to be prepared or for any other construction steps. It means greater savings of time and money. The finished cleanroom can also be moved immediately when needed; this is much faster than if you had built the cleanroom on-site and then had to transport it there later.

Cleanrooms can take up quite a bit of space, making them difficult to store off-site until needed. With modular cleanrooms, however, they can simply be stored indoors until they are required further down the line. It helps save space, reduce costs even further, and help you avoid damage caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Alternative to Stick-Built Construction

Stick-built construction of cleanrooms can be time-consuming, expensive, and difficult. Stick-built cleanroom construction requires specialized labor, a large amount of space, and takes a long time to build.

Modular cleanroom offers an alternative to stick-built cleanrooms through its modular manufacturing process. The state-of-the-art modular cleanrooms are built in the factory and then transported to your location, where installation begins immediately after arrival at the site.

These options allow for shorter construction periods than traditional stick-built types of cleanroom facilities without sacrificing the quality or efficiency of installation operations.

Supervision and Labor Costs Are Reduced

Modular cleanrooms are less expensive because a smaller crew can construct the modules. In addition, the cost of supervision is reduced because there is no need for an external contractor to build the cleanroom from scratch. The modular design also means that it’s easier to modify and expand your facility as your needs change over time.

Flexible, Expandable, and Relocatable

Modular cleanrooms can be expanded or relocated easily and with little hassle. Modular cleanroom companies have a wealth of experience in the healthcare industry and can provide you with quality solutions that will meet your needs. In addition, modular cleanrooms can be modified to suit your facility’s needs by adding walls and other construction items as needed.

Modular cleanrooms can also be added to or removed from the facility if they are no longer needed or need to be moved elsewhere. It makes them very flexible in size and location within the building, allowing for easy access or expansion when needed.

Conclusion

Modular cleanrooms offer many advantages that could benefit any healthcare facility. The modular construction method is a quick and cost-effective alternative to stick-built construction, which can be an expensive undertaking.

Modular cleanroom construction also saves time compared with traditional building methods due to the shorter time it takes for each unit to be assembled at the site. It means that your facility will be up and running much quicker when compared to using traditional methods.
