Botulinum toxin or Botox injections will make your face muscles feel relaxed to smoothen out the wrinkles and fine lines such as frown lines and crow’s feet. It is meant to last for almost 3 to 4 months and not a permanent option. The price for Botox injections may differ from around £100 to £350 for each treatment based on the Botox clinic in London you have chosen and the area to be treated.

What you need to consider before getting Botox injections

If you need to have Botox injections, make sure you know why you want them.

The person who gives Botox injections is well-qualified and possess years of experience.

He should be a medical practitioner who meets the standards in terms of skills, training and insurance.

Do not choose practitioners who have not attained their training or have done a short course on training.

When you visit the practitioner, make sure you ask about:

  • their qualification, experience and training
  • the name of product whether it has been licensed and where it is being made
  • any kind of probable side effects or risks
  • what can happen when things seem to be wrong
  • what insurance coverage they provide

Botulinum toxin may be prescribed only during a face-to-face meeting with the medical practitioner.

The person who suggests for taking botulinum toxin will be responsible to see it is given with safety. They might not be giving injections but it has to be done by a qualified practitioner.

When you cannot undergo Botox

Botox injections might not be suggested in case:

  • you are unfit in someway
  • you suffer from any skin disease
  • you take certain medications
  • you are breastfeeding or pregnant
  • you suffer from neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis

What Botox treatment involves

Your face should be cleaned properly and botulinum toxin has to be injected into the face muscles with a fine needle. You will be given injections at different places based on the area to be treated. You have to move muscles in the face for finding the right place to be injected. The procedure generally requires nearly 10 minutes for completion.

Afterwards

You won’t see a change immediately and it requires nearly 2 to 3 days for working properly and somewhere around 2 to 3 weeks for getting the entire effect.

You are advised not to rub face or massage for 3 days. Make sure you do not perform strenous exercise such as sunbathing and sauna for 2 days. Your practitioner who performs Botox treatment in London will give necessary advice about what you need and need not do.

The effects of the treatment are meant to last for almost 3 to 4 months. If you need to take Botox injections again, then you will have to wait for at least 3 months. The injection might not work properly when you have it often.

Risks with Botox injections

The risks of Botox injections are small when done correctly by a qualified practitioner. You need to consult with the practitioner about possible risks involved with it.

Once the treatment is done, you might have:

  • flu-like symptoms and headache for 24 hours
  • redness, swelling and bruising when the needles go inside your skin
  • frozen look when you cannot move face muscles in case too much Botox gets injected
  • face droopiness and temporary weakness in the face and the eyelids might droop when Botox moves into specific areas

Rarely, there may be serious problems such as double or blurred vision when the area around your eyes get treated or you have breathing difficulties in case your neck area is injected.

What you should do when you suffer from problems

It is suggested you consult with your practitioner in case you have had Botox injections and are not satisfied with the treatment results.

When you suffer from serious problem such as difficulty breathing, you need to dial 999 for getting an ambulance or visit the nearest clinic right away.

You can search the Internet to find a “botox clinic near me.” This way, you can get the treatment done according to your convenience.
